Public Health Nuisances
The Athens City-County Health Department receives and responds to calls regarding public health nuisances almost on a daily basis. These calls may involve anything from housing problems to sewage to weeds and high grass. The department does require a completed and signed complaint form be submitted before an investigation will be conducted. If the complaint is found to be valid, the process to have the nuisance corrected will be started. Time limits are normally given depending on the severity of the situation. Time limits could range from one day to thirty days. If the need arises, some situations may be brought before the Board of Health or referred to the county prosecutor. Some situations which may or may not pose a public health nuisance would be junk cars, scrap metal, etc. Most nuisances are covered under Chapter 3767 of the Ohio Revised Code.
To properly submit a complaint to this department, you must fill out the form below in it's entirety:
Public Health Nuisance Complaint Form
Any complaints received by any other method of communication may not be processed and addressed.
